"The ability to win the information war is dependent on providing critical information to combatant commands when and where needed."
--United States Space Command, Concept of Operations for Global Broadcast Service
Background
The Global Broadcast Service (GBS) provides a critical information tool to the U.S. military. Our armed forces use the communications made possible by the GBS program to provide continuous, one-way, high-speed information to our troops deployed in the field. This critical information flows support crisis response coordination, strategic and tactical battlefield information, as well as troop morale, health, and welfare broadcasts. The GBS broadcasts sent to our military in the field provide our armed forces with the key battlefield advantage of information superiority.
Need
The Government's prime contractor needed support managing the procurement and integration of various commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and custom components. These components were assembled into "satellite receive suites," used to obtain and decode the information broadcast over the GBS system.
Response
EyakTek worked with our partners to procure and integrate an average of 115 components for each individual receive suite produced. We also worked with the prime contractor to identify improvements to its assembly procedures and design.
Result
EyakTek has helped deploy hundreds of satellite receive suites all over the world. In 2004, we won the prime contractor's "Supplier of the Year" award for our support of this effort.
